Hike’rizons Member Guidelines
Attending events
- Please sign the liability waiver to attend events. You will only need to do so once.
- Make sure to read the entire description of event so you will know what is required and that you are prepared for the event.
- Don’t hesitate to contact the leader in advance if you have questions or concerns about an event.
- Be mindful of your abilities as many of the events are physically demanding.
- Follow the Event Chat and comments for the Meetup event. This is especially important for event changes.
- Check weather forecast and dress accordingly.
- If there is a charge for the event, please pay in a timely manor so leader does not have to spend time following up with you for payment.
- Don’t forget parking passes.
- Have a spirit of adventure and enjoy the moment. We are a social group and like to make meaningful connections with others.
- Be considerate of others. Drama is better suited elsewhere
- The leaders spend considerable time and effort planning trips. Please be appreciative and respectful of them.
Be reliable
- Be considerate with rsvp and remove yourself as soon as possible if you can not attend so that someone else may attend. It is disappointing for those on a waitlist who can not attend when cancellations are last minute.
- Be on time ready to go at the posted start time so others do not have to wait for you.
- Give yourself extra time to get to event if you have not been to the location before or weather conditions warrant extra time.
- If you carpool, please be considerate to compensate the driver.
Be safe
- Make sure to have what items you need and that they are in proper working order.
- Let your family or friends know where you are and how long you will be gone.
- Share relevant medical information with the leader for emergency.
- Dress in layers and be prepared for all weather conditions. Cotton clothing is not suitable.
- Bring enough water, electrolytes, food etc.
- Bring first aid kit and 10 essentials.
- Have a map of event route.
- Speak up if you are experiencing difficulty.
