Event Refunds Policy

As you will likely come across, some events require a fee upfront before you can be added to the Going List or to the Waitlist for that event. For these events, leaders pay for permits, campgrounds, and other reservation expenses ahead of time, out of their own pockets.

Collecting event fees upfront helps to ensure that leaders get reimbursed and that our organizers will break even in the end. Recall that event leaders & organizers are just volunteers, and they do not get paid for their time.

Having a no-refund policy helps mitigate the risk of losing money and of having to chase people down later.

The no-refund policy does not apply to those on the Waitlist. If you joined the Waitlist, and you were never moved to the actual Going List, you will of course be refunded.

If you were added to the Going List, however, and realize later that you can no longer make it, you must find a replacement in order to get your money refunded.

Major things come up, and we get it. When time permits, event leaders will do their best to help you find a qualified person that can take your spot and reimburse you. Please keep in mind that this is your responsibility though ultimately, not theirs.

Thank you for understanding. These policies are put in place to protect event leaders that work so hard to organize events for all of you. We don’t want them to lose money or to feel discouraged. That would inevitably lead to fewer events for all of you too, and we also don’t want that.
